Birth Justice Murmuration
Register here, any or all of these five conversations to help develop our Landscape Analysis. Discuss who is doing what and why in the birth justice movement.
A deep understanding of community led strategies through a national birth justice landscape analysis will allow birthworkers, activists, researchers, donors, and policymakers to identify key strategies for collective impact, enable tangible improvements, and scale up.
The process will include pathways for individuals, invited organizations, and sponsors to engage and inform the report. This murmuration series invites the whole ecology of folks to join us in virtual space to discuss:
Week 1 –– What is birth justice?
Week 2 –– Why do people do birth justice?
Week 3 –– The who, what, when, and where of birth justice (Who is doing birth justice, what are they doing, when, and where?)
Week 4 –– Who/what is fueling, funding, and sustaining birth justice?
Week 5 - We will circle back to a topic that needs further discussion or cover a new topic that emerged in the previous weeks.

Birth Equity Implementation Meetings
We are holding several meetings and work groups to work on implementation of the 2021 Birth Equity legislation. Click to learn more.
At the end of September and into October we started our implementation work group meetings. This consists of our Support for Incarcerated Parents Work Group, the Payment Work Group and the overall Steering Committee (which includes regulatory advocates, communications and translation).
We have recordings of the introductory meetings to help people get oriented to participation.

A hearing for one of our birth equity bills will be happening tomorrow afternoon and will likely overlap with this event - so we are inviting people to tune into the committee hearing and then join us in Zoom to deconstruct and debrief the committee hearing. This is the first of many committee hearings and will give you a chance to see the process up close and then hear from experts to better understand.
To tune into the hearing go to https://leg.colorado.gov/ and then “Watch and Listen.”
From there go to “Colorado Senate” and find the Health and Human Services Committee. Click on that to be taken in to the committee.
Then join us here, when the Direct Entry Midwives portion of the hearing ends.
